AgroConnect

AI-Powered Agricultural Marketplace

A transparent marketplace connecting farmers, buyers, and sellers—with AI-driven planting, pricing, and escoamento intelligence plus secure, trust-based transactions.

Problem

Agricultural trade in emerging markets often runs on guesswork: opaque pricing, weak trust between parties, and no single place to list, negotiate, buy, and settle payments with clarity.

Context

Farmers, buyers, and sellers need more than classified ads—they need demand-aware guidance, sell-through recommendations, and financial flows they can trust on mobile devices in the field.

Solution

AgroConnect combines a smart marketplace (list, compare, negotiate) with AI modules for what to plant, price trends, and profitability by crop and region. The Smart Escoamento engine recommends markets, selling speed, inventory risk, and pricing. Payments support seller-defined upfront amounts, proof validation, and confirmation-based completion—backed by ratings, order history, and in-app chat with live order status.

Architecture

  • Next.js App Router with role-based access control (RBAC) across farmer, buyer, and seller journeys
  • React Query for server state; Prisma + PostgreSQL for transactional data
  • WebSocket layer for real-time chat and order status updates
  • Component-driven UI (shadcn + compound patterns), mobile-first up to 1440px
  • SEO layer with sitemap and JSON-LD structured data

Technical challenges

  • Modeling multi-step commerce flows (negotiation → partial pay → proof → completion) without losing users on small screens
  • Surfacing AI recommendations as actionable UI, not overwhelming dashboards
  • Keeping real-time order and chat state consistent across roles and devices
  • Balancing accessibility, i18n (Portuguese-first), and dense marketplace data

Results

  • End-to-end marketplace journeys from listing through negotiated purchase and verified payment
  • AI-assisted decisions on planting, pricing, and where to sell (escoamento)
  • Trust signals via reputation, verified transactions, and structured order history
  • Production-ready foundation for data-driven agriculture in emerging markets

Lessons learned

  • Marketplace UX and agricultural intelligence must ship as one product narrative, not separate modules
  • Trust in payments and reputation is as important as search and listings for adoption
